Full Job Description
Ocala Equine Hospital, PA is an equine veterinary practice located in Ocala, Florida. The practice employs 10 veterinarians, 3 surgeons and consists of a full-service ambulatory division, full lab and advance imaging capabilities including an MRI and CT Scanner.

• MRI: assisting is preparation of patient for procedure and perform procedure, emailing reports
• CT Scan: Radiology experience using Computerized Tomography Equipment, standard techniques and radiation safety procedures. Assisting is preparation of patient for procedure, perform procedure and emailing reports

Additional Responsibilities
• Nuclear scintigraphy: Assisting as a backup in preparation of patients for procedures, possibly perform procedure with standard techniques and radiation safety procedures.
• Provide tech coverage for surgery (growth opportunity)
• Care for all imaging equipment (clean/organize), and archive images
• Sterilize all instruments and equipment
• Additional responsibilities as needed

Additional Qualifications
• Full understanding of horse anatomy (particularly-limbs) 3-D Imaging, X-ray Equipment and good Computer Skills
• Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently with good problem-solving skills
• Interpret doctors’ requests and requirements on images
• Excellent horse-horse handling skills, including handling of fractious or sedated horses, mares and foals.
• Minimum one year working as a technician in an equine hospital, or two years working as an (ambulatory) equine veterinary assistant strongly preferred
• Veterinary medicine experience (TPR, IM/IV, restraining techniques, oral meds, placing catheters, bandage wraps, iso protocols, sterile technique, etc.)

• Education in equine studies or veterinary technician license (LVT) is preferred, but not required
• Good time management and multitasking skills
• Capable of handling patient emergency situations
• Capable of heavy lifting 50#, pulling and pushing 100#
• Possibility prep horse – pull shoes
• An outstanding team attitude, work ethic, and desire to learn

Working Hours: Monday through Friday 7:30am to 4:30pm is the standard work time, but there is some flexibility in scheduling and overtime only as needed.
